Nokia has moved swiftly to deny rumours that its about to announce its first Google Android-powered smartphone after reports emgerged that the handset would even be ready for an assualt on the Christmas market.
A report in the Guardian on Monday, had ‘industry insiders’ claiming Nokia was preparing to unleash a touchscreen Android smartphone at the Nokia World conference in September.
However despite its share of the smartphone market 47% to just 31 by the end of 2008, Nokia has poured scorn on the report saying: "There is no truth to this story whatsoever. It’s a well known fact that Symbian is our platform of choice for smartphones." It doesn’t get more categorical than that.
